Community Orchards offsets carbon emissions from local businesses by allowing them to purchase fruit-bearing orchards planted in low income and at-risk neighbourhoods throughout Calgary. This green initiative brings residents of all types to achieve one purpose--improving Calgary’s social health and environmental stewardship!
We create an opportunity for Calgarians to reduce their carbon footprint while providing nutritious fruit to those residents who need it most. Enactus Calgary’s Community Orchards seeks out businesses around the city that want to give back in a creative and green way. We accomplish this by planting fruit-bearing orchards in low-income housing areas and community food centres, beautifying our neighbourhoods and facilitating welcoming gathering areas for all Calgarians. Read our blog post here about our successful volunteer events in planting over 400 trees & shrubs in 2016 and 100 trees & shrubs in 2015. |
